RELATIONSHIP AT WRONG TIME

 Sunil, a devotee of the temple, was a single guy seeking to get married. One day while he was attending the various functions of the temple, he met Sunita, another devotee of the Temple, and fell in love. They decided to consult with myself, the Swami, about getting married. Since Sunita lived in New York, they wanted to get married within a month when she returned. After careful analysis of their life charts and with the observation that Sunda’s life code number is 8 and Sunita’s life code is 9, I warned them about starting a relationship in the year 2007 when they met, the reason being that Sunita’s life code would match negatively with the year code (number 9) and any marriage or sexual relationships will result in possible death, separation or financial difficulties. They both promised to wait until the year was finished before starting any intimacy in their relationship. Needless to say, I observed that in 2008 Sunda’s yearly code [8 +2008] will result in a 9. After careful advice and instructions, they and I agreed that we will do a ritual prayer to offset the negativities before they can get together intimately. I also extracted a promise to them that they would agree to get married twice within the next two to three years, in other words they have to perform two marriage ceremonies before the marriage can become satisfactorily happy.

All in agreement, Sunita went back to New York and Sunda waited fore her. Two months later, in July of 2007, Sunita came back to do the special prayers required to start the relationship. Sunda and Sunita were scheduled to perform these prayers a few days after she arrived to the Temple. Thinking that the Swami would not know or their actions, Sunda and Sunita secretly went to the hotel straight from the airport and became intimate with each other. Not realizing the consequences of their sexual relationship before the ceremony and urged by lustful desires, they broke the promise with me and thus created the future karma that I feared most. I realized immediately that now the path of their relationship will become a negative one though I did not instill them any fear of this negative path but I advised them to pray for forgiveness. I proceeded to perform the marriage prayers. Sunita took most of the blame for what happened but asked for forgiveness. After starting to live together, Sunita purchased a $50,000.00 mercedes benz and Sunda lost his job after a month into the marriage. Six months later, the Mercedes benz was repossessed by the dealer because Sunita could not afford the payment and Sunda’s mother quarreled with Sunita. Both Sunda and Sunita came to me to settle their differences. And in all those times, I reminded them that they violated the rules when they slept with each other prior to the ceremony, and that is why they have to suffer the consequences of their actions.

It is the year 2008, one year after I performed their marriage ceremony. Both Sunita and Sunil never performed the second ceremony as requested. One day, Sunda called me and told me that he is sending Sunita back to New York. I consented immediately, I told him to send her back to New York because I realized that this is what was needed to repair the relationship. Even though they did not perform the second ceremony, the simple act of separating from each other while Sunda is experiencing a number 9 vedic year code, will bring them back together in a happier and more divine connection.

Here is a case where all of the separation and troubles in a relationship could have been avoided if they had followed some of the rules I presented to them. My feeling that it was lust at first sight that created this problem, and had it been real love at first, each person would have waited patiently and they would have not lost two years of their life without progress. This is a clear indication of how people can avoid negative karma in their life if proper knowledge of their life code is followed.

The vedic science of life code can prevent such things as death, sickness, divorces, separation, infertility, depression, health problems, wars and more. It is truly the science of the future and if used by every individual on earth, it will present unlimited prosperity for everyone.

RAGHU & KETHU

                                  H.H. Swamiji Sri Selvam Siddhar

Rahu and Ketu are not two separate entities in Vedic Astrology. They are two parts of the same demon, Swarbhanu who was a dragon. The relevant story goes like this. It was desired to bring out the gems lying hidden in the womb of the ocean. The gems were not the precious stones that we often get out of the sea. What is meant here is perhaps the secrets were unknown so far. Incidentally, it may be added here that by water they never meant the compound or two gases. In occult and spiritual literature water is the base of all manifestation. Water is used as a purifying agent in all religions the world over. As the butter in the milk is not visible but can be obtained by churning the milk, the gods and demons representing the good and evil forces wanted to churn the ocean. The work cannot be done by one or a few persons. It was decided to harness all the available forces of the suras ( gods) and Asuras (demons). As the consequence would be precious to both the parties, they decided to work together and share all that came out. Sumeru mountain was selected as the stick for churning. A serpent was used as the cord for the stick. Many gems came out of the sea one by one. Amrita, the nectar that makes one immortal to one who drinks it, was the last to appear.

The gods did not want to share this nectar with the demons lest the demons become immortal and evil perpetuate. The demons were already apprehensive of the intentions of gods. The latter approached Lord Vishnu who is always partial to gods. The latter appeared before the quarrelling parties in the form of a charming damsel. The damsel assured justice to both parties and asked them to stand in two rows. Swarbhanu one of the demons, apprehensive of the justice by the damsel infiltrated into the row of gods incognito and got his share of the nectar. It was only after drinking the nectar that he was detected by Sun and Moon who complained about it to Lord Vishnu who got enraged and chopped off the head of the demon. The two portions, head and the headless trunk have since been going round in the zodiac. As Sun and Moon are both their enemies they try to devour them which is the cause of solar and lunar eclipses. Swarbhanu before drinking the nectar had observed great penaces and Tapas and got a boon from Lord Brahma that he would be worshipped along with all the planets. Sun and Moon. It was on account of this boon of Lord Brahma that Lord Vishnu(the damsel) deliberately ignored his infiltration and gave him the nectar. The head portion of the demon is known Rahu and the trunk as Ketu.

On the face it looks funny but an intelligent interpretation of it would lead us to great truth. Gods and demons have always existed side by side, each fearful of the other and each struggling for existence and supremacy over the other. Churning of the ocean for taking out the gems was to have the secrets of life and of the manifestation. The Mt. Sumera is nothing but our spinal cord. The nectar that appeared last of all was nothing but the secrets of life and death and the way to liberation. The serpent used as a rope to bind the mountain is the wise man, perhaps, under whose guidance the operation should be undertaken. In short the churning of the sea is nothing but awakening and activating the Kundalini or Serpent power. The person who detected the demon was Moon who represents an illumined mind. Only and illumined mind can distinguish between good and bad. Head is the governing portion of the entire body and the experiences and the knowledge deposited in the lower portion of the body cannot be utilized by a headless man. In fact knowledge of truth and being one with it are two different things. Even the secret knowledge of truth provides the knower with many Siddhis and accomplishments which may be used as well as misused in the daily affairs of life. Chopping off the head means a separation of the governing part of the body from real truth.

The most significant point in the story is that the head comprising the mind and the faculty of distinction and power to govern the body is termed as Rahu. Because he was a demon his eyes are cast downwards, that is, towards earth or material pursuits. The material pleasures may give short time benefits but in the long run the individual gets disillusioned and starts looking towards the heavens for long term or permanent peace and bliss. As Rahu has gained the secrets of life and death he becomes invincible. He will try to get what he wants. If the circumstances are conducive or he will manipulate if they are not conductive. In other words, speaking astrologically, Rahu will get whatever it stands for by hook or by crook. It is compared with Saturn. The discussion on this aspect is possible only after we have learnt more about Rahu. One thing however is certain. Rahu in eclipses is active in dark fortnight and Ketu in bright fortnight. It is on this account that Ketu is considered as the Karaka or significator of Moksha or liberation. Both the nodes are malefic because the individuals gets troubles in both the paths whether spiritual or material.

Rahu and Ketu

Rahu and Ketu have no house of their owns. They are guided by the lord of the house they occupy. They are also influenced by the planets co-occupying the houses with them and also by those aspecting them. This supports our assumption that the nodes affect more than one aspect of life.

Further, the two nodes are always opposite to each other. Normally the planets opposing each other affect each others results. This may not be so with the nodes because the results in each case may not have to be opposed or affected. If at all, they affect each other that which be only supplementary and not otherwise.

According to mythological tales Rahu is the head of the dragon. Head as we know contain the brain and controls the functioning of the entire body. This suggests that Rahu is the controlling and active node. Ketu rules of the body, sends feelings and sensations to the brain. To analyse those sensations and take action if necessary is within the jurisdiction of Rahu. More precisely Ketu has the power of transforming the events into experience which turn into wisdom. On the basis of the above we can assume that the wisdom derived from events is stored by Kety and may be lying some where at the unconscious level. The wisdom lying at the unconscious may come up to rule conscious or even the conscious level which inspires us to respond involuntarily to some events even knowing fully well that a particularly action shall go against our interests, we take that action.

Nobody can predict such action. We may call it mysterious because we do not know the reasons why we took certain action which was not at all warranted under the then prevailing circumstances. This is the bridge linking the fact with the present. Ignoring Rahu and Ketu we would be missing this link.

The sign dispositors of the nodes function as the channels for them. Modern writers have started to link them with our previous incarnations. Ketu stores the past events in its own way and delivers their results through the agency of its sign dispositors and the planets connected with it.

Ketu

Astrologically speaking, human life has been divided into three stages as Rajasic, Tamasic and Satvic phases. These are also the three Gunas or Qualities manifest in this Universe.  Ketu is the first Graha in each of these three stages. In Pisces the egos were fast sleep and had lost their individually. The first step was to awaken the dormant egos. There may be noised around them yet they are not awakened unless called out by name. This is so because the sleeping egos had not lost their individually. The persons generally identify themselves with the name. They will not easily be awakened by calling out by their names. Ketu as the first Graha required for awakening the ego indicates that it has some thing to do with the activities the sleeping ego had identified itself with. Ketu thus can be taken to be concerned with the life earlier than when the egos went dormant. In other words Ketu implants in the egos their earlier identification. Ketu was the repository of its past deeds in some form or the other. It was however, at mental stage.

In the Tamsic phase the individual is ready to face the world manifest physically and mentally. Ketu’s appearance as first again means that the experiences gained in the earlier life release their talent faculties. Sattwik attributes lead to enlightenment on the basis of its existence in the world of matter. Molla in the group asks individual once again to indentify himself in accordance with his past experience. He may like to go for more experiences of the world of matter or to change the course of piolgirmage to spiritualism. This is one aspect of Ketu that is its contribution to the process of evolution. This is the main function of Ketu and all the others Grahas for that matter. When we talk of astrological function we have to keep this in mind that Ketu is the repository of our past Karmas or deeds and misdeeds that bring us to this world of matter and manifestation.

Astrologically speaking, Ketu’s Nakshatra fall in the signs Aries Leo and Sagittarius. The indication is that Ketu does whatever it likes on an impulse. It does not analyse its action objectively. It has no tolerance or forbearance. Seeking reasons for such impulsive actions. We go to the study of the rulers of its Nakshatra’s four quarters. The Nakshatras fall in different signs of the zodiac but their quarters are governed by Mars. Venus, Mercury and Moon. They all belong to the first phase of evolution. Their impact is on subjective mind and they all seek externalization of themselves. Externalisation means an impulse of expressing in physical terms all that they feel inside. The moon as the lord of Cancer governs the cosmic Hiranyagarbha the womb of all manifestation. The egos get all type of nourishment that is required by the ego for all its manoeuvres that it cherished. It is for this reason that Ketu is compared with Mars.

Ketu is called Shikhi which means the top. Ketu prepares the individual for each phase of his journey. Preparation for any action requires a conviction that he can do the work required of him. Ketu for this purpose gives flashes of the inner self of the individual which is omnipotent. The aspect of Ketu is present in all its Nakashatras. It tries to take you to spiritualism, the way to the cosmic self. Ketu’s action is always on the mental plane irrespective of the phase of evolution it is concerned with. In Aries it stimulates the mind because the emerging egos had attained the stage of floating masses. In Pisces they were merely the floating nebulae.

In Leo it again stimulated the mind, increased self centered-ness to the degree of being an egoist. It did so because the ego wanted to have more experience the material world. In the last phase of development it stimulated the mind again to take a decision and if need be to change the course of journey. In short, Ketu does not produce the circumstances. It creates the mind. It is the top executive of human actions.

It is true that by affecting the mind Ketu causesa great mental turbulence because the matter does not move according to its dictates. This often causes great agonies and even frustrations. Repeated failures and frustrations lead to a situation of helplessness and isolation, then the individual tries to seek remedies and divine help. Ketu does not ask him to withdraw into his shell and that is possible only when we surrender ourselves. Our western friends are of the opinion that Ketu is Mars conjunct Saturn. It cannot be said how this assumption has gained ground . Mars gives up its impulsive nature in the Saturnian sign Capricorn. Esoterically Saturn is considered to be a god of retribution and turning all Karmik accumulation into impersonal universe energy. Karmik retribution is the department under Rahu as we have seen during our study of Nakshatras. Ketu is not concerned with retribution. Its department is storing of all the deeds or misdeeds in the form or wisdom or experiences. It is difficult to agree with western assumption. The discussion can be summarized briefly.

1. Ketu is a Karmic planet in the sense that it is the store house of all our past deeds or misdeeds and ego aspirations and ambitions of the previous incarnations.

2. Ketu does not create circumstances. It is the circumstances which churn the contents of Ketu and become the stimulants to bring out the past relevant experiences etc to the fore to influence the mind.

3. Ketu is like Mars because it works at the spur of the moment.

4. Ketu brings out the specific ray to the fore.

RAHU

It was Ketu that sowed the seed of re-incarnation of the ego. It gave them them wisdom and experience that they had gathered during their last sojourn in the world. It was subjective and purely on mental plane. It was too early to be effective but it was very important because it demarcated the line of action of each ego. By the time Rahu appeared on the scene various other developments had taken place. Rahu gave to the egos a human shape. All the organs of sense and action were fully developed. It was a human being with animal instinct. There was need to plant something that was anti animalism. The possibility of any action arises only when there are two aims different from each other. Ketu no doubt gave the flashes of divinity. It was Rahu which made the ego in human shape realize divinity in him along with animalism but along with the instincts. Rahu also imparted the knowledge that the divinity in him was only a bounded divinity. It had its own limitation in manifestation. Rahu is considered as on of the Rudras who know the law of evolution, law of Karmas and law of retribution. It was thus assigned the most important task of enforcement of all the three laws.

It is Rahu only who can suspend the operation of the function of any or all the planets at any particular moment. This does not mean that the achievements of the earlier lives or incarnations are lost to the individual. He will be rewarded or punished as the case may be at some future date. They remain in the personal ledger of the individual. It is the full bloomed flower that is to go on its journey towards his destiny. Swati is the next asterism falling in Libra. The sign belongs to Tamasik Vrittis or the attributes. Under this influence the egos immerse themselves deeper and deeper in matter . Rahu here arouses deeper wisdom and spirituality and teaches the ego to have a balanced life. Vayu or the wind god by its “sieving process” shows the distinction between the useful and non useful or real and unreal. The septenary principle starts functioning and the ego pick up its unique thread that it had developed in earlier lives. Rahu oversees the operations of all three laws, namely, the law of evolution, law or Karma and law of retribution.

The third Nakshatra of Rahu is Satbhishak in Aquarius. Lord of Aquarius is Saturn another Rudra governed by Lord Shiva, the Maha Rudra. Saturnian sign Aquarius teaches the individual that his body etc should be considered merely as a channel for the fulfillment of the Divine will and all that he has achieved should be used for the benefit of the world. Personalism gives way to impersonalism. Varuna the presiding deity over the asterism has the responsibility of purifying the soul and cleaning it by removing all the traces of Avidya i.e. ignorance. In critical times when the individual is unable to bear the sieving action of Varuna he looks downward that is, he does not call for the divine assistance but looks for his own faults. In other words the ego again tries to seek the help of its unique ray.

It would be clear from the above that Rahu is not actually the demon but an enlightened demon who is determined to have its divinity back. The sacrifice, however big it may be, is his least concern.

Rahu like Ketu is also a Karmic planet. While Ketu being a store house can be taken as the Karmik (intake) planet and Rahu the active and distributing. Their effects may be termed as Karmik (distribution). Their sign depositors can also be classified like this. The sign lords of Ketu and Rahu on the same analogy are termed as Karmic planet (inlet) and Karmik planet (distribution).

As regards the houses affected by these Karmic Grahas some eminent astrologers say that Ketu has no aspect while Rahu aspects Houses 5, 9 and 12th from it. This is perhaps on the basis that the later eminent astrologers have granted them some aspect. Much work on this point has not been done so far. It is therefore, difficult to agree or disagree with these assertions. As these nodes work through the planets related to them either as sign lords or by association or aspects, we have good reason to believe that the planets show the house affected by the nodes.

The nodes are always retrograde in motion indicating that they relate to the past rather than the present. On this analogy all the retrograde planets at the time of the birth should be treated as Karmic planets. Much research work is required for this purpose.

The sign of the zodiac containing the Nakshatras of Rahu are all airy signs which have their effects on mind. As Rahu governs or controls the part that rules over the entire body it does create material condition conductive to the actions it proposes to take by the actions of the individual. The individual behaves in a way that the required material conditions are produced for him to take punishment or reward as the case may be, for its action. Rahu is compared with Saturn. Saturn is a slow moving planet having many faces (masks) to get its work done ultimately. Rahu is not slow like Saturn but it does have many masks and it uses them as and when required. Saturn is a non-sparing body and so is Rahu. Both try to clear off the Karmic impediments that stand in the way of the individual to unite with the original self. They are cruel but their cruelty is for making the individual better.

Rahu like Saturn is considered to be a liar. In fact none of them is a liar. They only keep their cards close to their chest. The individual mis-understands and misinterprets the situation and experiences the untoward results. Diplomacy of Rahu or Saturn may, however, be taken as their untruthfulness.

Rahu is supposed to be mysterious in action and often treading the unbeaten tracks. This belief also does not carry much of a conviction. Rahu is a celestial being.

Atharva Veda -Siddha Massage

Siddha massage is an ancient  science which, although originated thousands of years ago, is still used as a treatment for many problems and ailments. Additionally to the nutrition suggestions, Siddha oil massages are recommended for relaxation of body and mind as well as for stimulation of nerves and muscles. Presently Swamiji Sri Selvam siddhar is the only Hindu in he whole north America who knows the secrets and a scholar of  Atharva Vedic Siddha massage which is of thousands of years old kept secret.

In ancient times, Siddha massages were such a commonly known practice throughout India, that Siddha practitioners and clinics did not even offer them. People consulted Siddha doctors only for particular treatments and special needs in order to receive a specific treatment. Therapeutic Treatment

These are the most common and recommended procedures: Pizhichil, Njavarakizhi, Abhayangam, Shirodhara, Shirovasti, Elakizhi and Ubatan.

Abhyangam- Siddhar style

Abhyangam is that what most people will imagine when they hear 'Siddha oil massage'. Herbal medicated oil is used to massage the entire body. While doing this, the therapist takes care to press the 107 vital points, called marmas, of the body.

This massage obviously has great benefits on the entire body. It enhances the blood circulation, it tones your muscles, rejuvenates your skin, strengthens the tissues and relaxes your nerves. Through the relaxation of the body your mind is soothed. Your body and immune system can resist influences from outside better. You have better sleep, your skin shines and you feel young and full of power.

Shirodhara- Siddhar style

Shirodhara is probably one of the most widely known Siddha treatments. It is a gentle massage as well as treatment in which oil with Siddha herbs is poured onto your forehead in a continuous stream.

The effect of Shirodhara is often described as a rarely experienced relaxation of the mind. Any stress and tension is relieved which has a relaxing effect on your mental and emotional situation. Shirodhara is thus strongly recommended for people suffering from insomnia, depression or burn-out. Sleep is improved, concentration gets easier and it can even change your general attitude towards more positivity.

If the therapist uses buttermilk instead of oil, the therapy is called Takradhara.

Pizhichil or Sarvangadhara- Siddhar style

’Pizhichil’ literally means squeezing. It is however not the body that is squeezed but a piece of cloth which the therapist dips periodically into a bowl containing warm oil with Siddha herbs. This oil is thus squeezed onto your body in a continuous stream over a longer period of time. The whole body except for head and neck thus experienced this warming and relaxing stream of oil.

Apart from its obvious soothing effect on the mind, Pizhichil relaxes the muscles of the whole body while the herbs reach deeper into the body tissues. Pizhichil is recommended for problems caused by the dosha Vata. It has beneficial effects for patients with muscle spasms, frequent cramps and even paralysis and hemiplegia.

Njavarakizhi- Siddhar style

In preparation for Njavarakizhi, oil with Siddha herbs is applied all over the body. After that you receive a massage with a warm bundle filled with Siddha herbs and medicine and dipped into warm milk.

The warmth, further supported by the Siddha massage and herbs, makes the body sweat out toxins. Through the rubbing with the bundle, dead skin is removed so that new skin can grow. This process not only makes your skin shine through the revitalisation and thus gives the impression of a rejuvenating therapy but also helps against certain skin disorders and impurities. Apart from this effect, Siddha suggests this therapy for all types of rheumatism, pain in the joints and arthritis. Its relaxing and soothing effect is helpful during the convalescence period after traumatic experiences. General weakness is another reason for an Siddha doctor to recommend this massage. Patients suffering from paralysis have experienced relief after repeated application of this and other treatments over a prolonged period of time.

Shirovasti- Siddhar style

Usually Snehana (oiling) and Swedana (sweating, for example through steam) is done before one starts a Shirovasti treatment. For Shirovasti, a crown or cap is formed out of a hard cloth that is then fixed with a paste to the head so that it can be filled from the top without leaking. Warm oil with Siddha herbs is filled into the cap and remains there for some time.

The benefits of this treatment go far from a relief of headaches and earache to a a distince improval of all sensory functions. The warm oil stimulates nerves at the top of your head and is thus recommended for diseases and problems connected with your cranial nerves. Siddha recommends the treatment for facial paralysis, cataract and glaucoma but also for schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorders, memory loss, insomnia and disorientation. It is described as a Shamana treatment rather than a Shodhana treatment, which means that it alleviates problems rather than cure them completely.

Elakizhi- Siddhar style

For Elakizhi your therapist will prepare bundles of various herbs and herbal powder. These bundles are warmed in Siddha oils and then used for massaging your body.

Elakizhi is a therapy that revitalizes your skin. Blood circulation is increased and your body sweats out toxins. Your skin releases these toxins and through the massage, dead skin particles are removed. Swamiji  also recommend this massage against joint pain, muscle cramps and arthritis. Of course the massage also reduces any stress levels in your body.

Ubatan- Siddhar style

Ubatan is a Beauty Massage. It is used to help the elderly and special techniques have been developed for young mothers as well as babies.All those treatments can be performed on a healthy person, too, simply to strengthen the immune system and giving back energy to the body. For patients, a Siddha doctor usually recommends different combinations of treatments and herbs. Specific Siddha massage therapies are used in certain therapeutic treatments like in Panchakarma purification.

ADI SHANKARA THE OCEAN OF KNOWLEDGE

Introduction

Adi Shankara was born thousand years before this century. He was born in a Brahmin family, but he lost his father at the very young stage of life. His birth place is called

“KALADY”, a small village situated in KERALA of SOUTH INDIA. Up to six years he was brought up by his mother. He was willing to take renunciation by that age of six itself. However, his mother refused him for Ashram life of renunciation and penance.

One day, when the boy Shankara was taking bath in the river, a crocodile caught one of his legs. That information went into the ears of his mother. His mother ran to the riverbank and saw her son struggling for life. At that stage also, Sri Shankara told his mother, that if she could permit him for a life of renunciation Lord Vishnu would save my life from this crocodile. His mother had no other go. She gave permission for the boy to take renunciation.

By surprise an elephant came into that place and fought with the crocodile. The crocodile slipped into the river leaving the boy unhurt. From that time he became Sanyasi (sage/saint/monk). It was meant, that a person who left the earthly pleasures. But Sri Shankara promised his mother that he would come to her at the time of her last days .  He traveled through out India and visited all holy places. Adi Shankara had composed and written many Sanskrit slogas of philosophy. Bhaja Govindam is a collection of poems written by Adi Shankara and his desiples, Sri Padma pathar and Sri Todakachariyar. Baja Govindham plainly explains the sorrowful and changeable nature of the worldly life of people.

Bhaja Govindham follows with 31Slogas, worshipping Sri Vishnu in other name Sri Govindha.

Sloga No.1

Oh fool, the time of death is harmful, what is the use of learning Sanskrit grammar like

“Duklinkarane”.The Grammatical verses will not save any one when the death occurs.

So, through the mind, through the words and through physique worship the “Lord Govindha”. Always worship by chanting the words “Lord Govindha”.

Sloga No.2

Oh fool!! A person gets wealth through his past births and contributions. Avoid strong desire for money, wealth and property. Be satisfied with what that comes ultimately. Do not get confused and get strong desire and become insane. The deeds of past birth have much attachment to present life.

Sloga No.3

Oh fool!! A young woman’s breasts and hip are made by flesh and excessive protein. Do not get infatuation or lust by looking at them! Think with patience how these forms come into vision. Control the mind by minute to minute and second to second. Think about the basic elements of those physical anatomy, then the lust and sexual feeling will not arise.

Sloga No.4

In the lotus leaf, the dew drops of water in the early morning, which exists for a few seconds. Human life is impermanent. This world has strange nature. Every where Ego and Selfishness and disease appear and exist. For this destructive worldly pleasure don’t wander with hunger.

Sloga No.5

When a person has ability to earn and make income, his relatives and others will love him much. When that person becomes unable to make money, wealth due to old age, his relatives and others start to neglect him, and they would not ask his well fare. In old age that person would fall bed-ridden due to disease. No one would come near to that person.

Sloga No.6

While that bird named ‘soul’ fly away from one’s physique, no body would care about that person. With whom that person shared the pleasure would get afraid to go near to that dead body. These are temporary contacts with close relatives and not permanent. The flower like words from them would cease. Nothing in this world is eternal.

Sloga No.7

When a person born and reach to boy hood, he spends his time through playful activities. When a person attains young, he goes behind woman for pleasure. When a person attains old age, he spends his time through thinking about past with tears. These are the three stages of one’s worldly life. Even then no one spends his time about thinking of the God. No one leads his life towards the Almighty.

Who is one’s son? Who is one’s wife? This world is nothing but strange trap. Where from a person comes into this world? Who are the relatives when a person has not entered into this world? Engage into that “Deep thought”! Come to realize this physique is not one’s nature! Then how this birth came? Search through philosophy. How and where this deep-mist that disclose the “Truth” of one’s “Self”.

Have and join with the true devotees of God! Join with justful people. Then the truth and revealation will come through this attachment! Then the imaginary relations and attraction would destroy. By that time a person will achieve eternal pleasure and will be a known one to all. Even while living in this world a person will become a saint or devotee of God and attains wisdom. Then those people know and understand about the eternal pleasure.

 Astral Journey and the Astral Body

 

You first separate yourself from the body; then you identify yourself with the mind, and then you function on the mental plane, with this fine body just as you do on this physical plane. Through concentration, you rise above the body-consciousness; through meditation, you rise above mind; and finally through Samadhi, you realize your spiritual nature. These are three important exercises of Antaranga sadhana in the achievements of Kaivalya, the final beatitude.

 

You can, by mere willing alone, travel to any place you like with the astral body and there materialize by drawing the necessary elements either from Ahankara or the universal storehouse, the ocean of Tanmatras. The process is very, very simple to occultists and Yogis who know the rationale, the detailed technique of the various operations. Thought reading and thought-transference too can be quite easily performed by those who can function with the astral body. Concentrated mental rays can penetrate opaque walls, just as X-rays pass through the opaque body. This is one of the Siddhis (mystical perfections). Siddhis are not the goal of life. Do not entangle yourself in these Siddhis which mar your further spiritual progress. Shun them entirely. Continue your Sadhana and stop not till you reach the goal.

 

Movement of the Mind

 

After a short practice of meditation you will feel that the body gets lighter in a short time, say fifteen or thirty minutes after you have taken your seat on Padma, Siddha or Sukha Asana according to your taste and temperament. You may be semiconscious of the body and surroundings or you may become quite unconscious of the body. There is a great deal of happiness owing to concentration. This is happiness resulting from concentration which is quite distinct from sensual pleasure. You must be able to differentiate these two pleasures through the intellect, rendered subtle by constant meditation. Dharana (concentration) and Dhyana (meditation) have a power to sharpen the intellect. A trained intellect can comprehend subtle, philosophical and abstruse problems beautifully well.

 

A disciplined intellect that can carefully differentiate the happiness derived from concentration and that of sensual objects will naturally run daily to enjoy this kind of new happiness derived from concentration. Such a mind will loathe at sensual pleasures. There will be extreme detesting abhorrence and positive aversion to objects. It is but natural. Because this kind of happiness is more lasting, sustained, self-contained and real as it emanates from the Atma (spirit soul). You can distinctly feel that the mind is moving, that it is leaving its seat in the heart, and that it is trying to go to its Yatha Sthana (original seat). You know that it has left its old groove and is now passing on a new avenue. As a result of meditation, new channels are formed in the brain, new thought-currents are generated, new brain cells are formed. There is a transformed psychology altogether. You have got a new brain, a new heart, new feelings, new sentiments, new emotions and new sensations.

 

Anahata Sounds: The Mystical Internal Sounds Heard During Meditation

 

Anahata sounds are the mystic sounds heard by the Yogi at the beginning stage of his meditation. This subject is termed Nada-Anusadhana, an enquiry into the mystic sounds. This is a sign of purification of the Nadis due to the practice of Pranayama. The sounds can also be heard after the uttering of the Ajapa Gayatri mantra, "Hamsah Soham', one hundred thousand times. The sounds are heard through the right ear with or without closing the ears.The sounds are distinct when heard through closed ears. The ears can be closed by introducing the thumbs in the ear through the process of Yoni-Mudra. Sit in Padma or Siddha Asana. Close the ears with right and left thumb and hear the sounds very attentively. Occasionally you can hear the sounds through the left ear also. Practice to hear through the right ear only. Why you hear through the right ear only or hear distinctly through the right ear is because of the influence of the solar Nadi, Pingla. The anahata sound is also called omkara Dhvani. It is due to the vibration of prana in the heart.

TIPS FOR YOUR HEALTH

Wholesome food, causes growth of healthy body while unwholesome food causes diseases”.

Ayurveda states that food and drink, that appeal to the eye, taste and feel

and are taken according to regimen, are the sustainers of life. They are the fuel to the “Jadaragni” (digestive fire) that burns within the body. If food and drink are ill chosen, ill prepared or ill served, the consequences will be harmful. Note that Ayurveda lays emphasis on not only selection and cooking of the food but also on how it is served.

 Food should be chosen to suit the individual constitution. The taste of the food also has to be considuced. Its ‘guna’ that is, whether food is heavy or light, hot or cold, oily or dry liquid or solid. The seasons of the year must also be considered in choosing proper diet.

 A broad classification of foods is necessary for designing diet. According to Caraka Samhita, foods are grouped as follows.

1. Sukadhanya (grains with husk)

2. Samidhanaya (pulses)

3. Masma (meats)

4. Saka (vegetables)

5. Phala (fruits)

6. Harita (greens)

7. Madya (alcoholic drinks)

8. Jala (water)

9. Gorasa (milk and milk products)

10. Iksu (sugarcane products)

 Further to this classification, caraka samhita describes the qualities, effects on the body and dosha of these 10 types of food.

Food for Tri – doshas

1. Vata dosha:- Foods that aggravate ‘vata’ are apples melons, Potatos, Tomato, egg plant, Icecream, Beef, Peas and green salad. Hence these foods must not be taken in excess. Foods that benefits vata prakriti are coconuts, brown rice, red cabage, bananas, grapes, cherries and oranges

2. Pitta dosha:- Spicy foods, peanut, butter, papaya tomotos and Garlic are to be avoided or taken less. Foods that benefit pitta dosha are mangoes, oranges, peas, plums and Green salad.

3. Kapha dosha:- Dairy products, dates, bananas, melon, coconut, pineapples, increase kapha. Beneficial foods are, dry fruits, pomegranates, Basmathi rice, chicken etc.

Seasonal Selections

 In summer, pitta is in dominance. Avoid pungent, hot, spicy foods. Autumn is the season of vata, hence avoid dry fruits, high protein foods etc. Winter, of course is the period of kapha. One should avoid cold substances like Icecream, cold drinks, curd and cheese.

Incompatible foods

 The following foods should not be taken together – Milk and Fish, milk and Meat, Yoghurt and beef, Milk and sour fruits. These combinations, if taken, cause production of toxins.

How to eat properly

? Eat only when you feel hungry. The food ingested earlier, should be allowed to be digested fully.

? Similary, do not drink (water) when you are not thirsty.

? When you feel hungry, do not assuage it by drinking water. If you drink at this time, the liquid will dissolve the digestive enzymes and Agni will be reduced. Similarly when you are thirsty, do not eat. Quench your thirst first.

? Eat your food in a congenial atmosphere with out distractions and disturbances.

? Each mouth ful should be chewed at least 30 times. This helps the digestive juices of the mouth to do their work and in addition, it gives time for the stomach to prepare it self to receive food.

? One third of you stomach should be filled with food, one third with water and one third with air.

? Do not over eat. When you over eat, the stomach distends itself. It expands like a balloon and if overeating is regularly done, the stomach will demand additional food. Overeating also results in the production of toxins in the digestive tract.

? Do not drink water immediately after food.

? If you suffer from constipation, or indigestion drinking warm – water before during the meals may help. Warm water activates Agni

How to fast properly

Before you undertake a fast, consult your physician

A person with vata constitution should not observe fast for more than 3 days. Same rule applies to pitta dominant persons. But persons with kapha constitution can go on fast longer because it benefits them.

 If a juice fast is undertaken, it is important to remember that grape juice is good for the vata constitution, pomegranate juice for the pitta constitution, and apple juice for the Kapha constitution. Each day of the fast, drink about one and one-half quarts of the juice diluted with water.

 During fasting, the digestive fire becomes rekindled and, since there is no food to digest, agni slowly burns away the balance of food if any.

 When one is observing a fast, physical strength and stamina should be watched. If it becomes noticeably less, the fast should be discontinued.

 For the normal healthy individual a warm water fast (one to two quarts perday) is advisable at least one day a week. This practices allows the digestives system to rest

Tips given by Acharya caraka

? Cereals ideal for use when a year old.

? Pulses are ideal for use when a year old. The old is rough, the new is heavy. When dehusked and fried, pulses are digested readily.

? Meat of animals which died naturally, killed by poisons or by snakes, tigers etc. should be discarded; as also that of too fat, too old, too young and emaciated. Meat soup is a useful tonic for those with phthisis, emaciation and other serious ailments.

? Vegetables contaminated by insects, damaged by wind or sun, old and unseasonal, uncooked in fat and not cleansed should be discarded.

? Old rotten and unripe fruits, those damaged by insects, animals, snow and sun, or grown in unnatural places and wrong seasons are unfit to eat.

? Individual properties are superseded by the steps in cooking and processing.

Other Ayurvedic suggestions

? The main meal should be lunch or as an early dinner. The quantity of food ingested should be no more than two cups together.

? The other two meals should be small.

? Fruits should be taken alone, about one hour before or after meal, because fruits tend to ferment in the digestive tract.

? Fruits should not be eaten with milk or other dairy products, because the acidity of the fruit in the stomach curdles the milk in the stomach.

The final and best suggestion is – consult on Ayurvedic doctor to determine your constitution (Vata, pitta or kapha) and let him devise your diet.

 Mamsa (Flesh of an animal or flesh of a fruit?)



Rarely has such a word invoked so much controversy... ,…….We hope that in this humble offering that this can be cleared...  Many use this word mamsa to prove that one can eat meat. Mamsa means meat BUT it also means (from the Monier Williams Dictionary)

Meaning:
n. sg. and pl. flesh , meat - Rig Veda (also said of the fleshy part or pulp of fruit) 
Name of a mixed caste MBh.

Mamsa: One of the seven bodily constituents, mainly muscle (dhatu) and its metabolism.

Many Hindus who like to consume meat use this word esp. from the Manu Smriti to prove that eating dead bodies is all cool and legit.In the Garuda Purana and Markandeya Purana the foolish translators who supposed to expert on Sanskrit translate the word mamasa as meat. This is when the descendents are "supposed to offer meat to the forefathers.This is utter nonsense as stated in Matya Purana "Vegetarian food prepared with pure butter, milk, sugar and curd, etc. are most pleasing to the Pitrs."(Matsya Purana 17.30)

Cow’s milk, honey and the sweet pudding made of milk and rice and sugar with dry nuts satisfies the Pitrs forever. (Matya Purana 17.36) Flesh of animals is obtained only after killing him, which is a sin, and the killer of animals never enters the celestial abode. (Manu Smriti 5.48) It is Dharma that in the Shraddha feast one should never offer meat nor should one eat meat. Only vegetarian food must be offered because meat is obtained by killing. (Srimad Bhagavatam 7.15.7) Manu asserts that selling buying, cooking and eating meat is a sin, which is as great as killing an animal itself. (Manu Smriti 5.15)

The Garuda Purana is a “Vishnu” Purana and for those who say that meat can be offering in this Purana is so off the mark because this can never be stated in a “Vishnu” Purana. 
The slanderous campaign has been unleashed by different vested interests to embarrass Hindus around the world citing specific references from the Vedas, Mahabharata and the Puranas.

This also comes handy in convincing poor and illiterate Indians to give up their faith on the grounds that our fundamental holy books – the Vedas – contain all the inhuman elements like denigration of women, meat-eating, polygamy, casteism and above all – beef eating. The Vedas are also accused of animal sacrifice in sacrificial ceremonies popularly known as the YAJNA. Interestingly a section of home-bred intellectuals claiming to have deep study of ancient India has also come up, who cite references from works of western indologists to prove such unholy content in the Vedas.
Saying that the Vedas permit beef-eating and cow-slaughter amounts to striking a lethal blow to a Hindu’s soul. Respect for cow forms a core tenet of Hinduism. Once you are able to convince him of flaws in the foundation of this core tenet and make him feel guilty, he becomes an easy prey for the predator faiths. There are millions of ill-informed Hindus who are not empowered to counter argue and hence quietly surrender.

The vested interests that malign the Vedas are not confined to foreign and home-bred ideologists alone. A certain class among Hindus exploited the rest of the population including the socially and economically weaker sections by forcing them to believe and follow what they said in the name of Vedas or else face the wrath.All the slanders heaped upon the Vedas can be attributed mainly to the interpretations of commentaries written by Mahidhar, Uvat and Saayan in the medieval times; and to what Vam-margis or the Tantra cult propagated in their books in the name of the Vedas.

In due course the falsehood spread far and wide and they became even more deep rooted when western scholars with their half-baked knowledge of Sanskrit transliterated these interpretations of commentaries of Sayan and Mahidhar, in the name of translating the Vedas. However, they lacked the pre-requisite understanding of Shiksha (Phonetics), Vyakarana (Grammar), Nirukta (Philology), Nighantu (Vocabulary), Chhanda (Prosody), Jyotish (Astronomy), Kalpa and so on that are critical for correct interpretation of the Vedas.So let’s objectively evaluate all such misconceptions about the Vedas – the foundation of human knowledge and establish our piety, sanctity, great ideals and philosophy that cater not only to Hindus but to every human being without bars, bias or discrimination of any kind.

How could people who believed in the doctrines of indestructibility, transmigration dare to kill living animals in yajnas? They might be seeing the souls of their own near and dear ones of bygone days residing in those living beings.

Samskartaa chopahartaa cha khadakashcheti ghaatakaah
Manusmriti 5.51

Those who permit slaying of animals; those who bring animals for slaughter; those who slaughter; those who sell meat; those who purchase meat; those who prepare dish out of it; those who serve that meat and those who eat are all murderers.

Breehimattam yavamattamatho maashamatho tilam
Esha vaam bhaago nihito ratnadheyaaya dantau maa hinsishtam pitaram maataram cha

O teeth! You eat rice, you eat barley, you gram and you eat sesame. These cereals are specifically meant for you. Do not kill those who are capable of being fathers and mothers.

Ya aamam maansamadanti paurusheyam cha ye kravih
Garbhaan khaadanti keshavaastaanito naashayaamasi
Atharvaveda 8.6.23

We ought to destroy those who eat cooked as well as uncooked meat, meat involving destruction of males and females, foetus and eggs.

Anago hatya vai bheema kritye

It is definitely a great sin to kill innocents. Do not kill our cows, horses and people.
How could there be justification of cow and other animals being killed when killing is so clearly prohibited in the Vedas?

Aghnyaa yajamaanasya pashoonpahi

“O human! Animals are Aghnya – not to be killed. Protect the animals”

“May all bipeds and quadrupeds gain strength and nourishment “This mantra is recited by Hindus before every meal. How could the same philosophy which prays for well-being of every soul in every moment of life, approve of killing animals?

No violence in Yajna

Yajna never meant animal sacrifice in the sense popularly understood. Yajna in the Vedas meant a noble deed or the highest purifying action.

Adhvara iti Yajnanaama – Dhvaratihimsaakarmaa tatpratishedhah
Nirukta 2.7

According to Yaaska Acharya, one of the synonyms of Yajna in Nirukta or the Vedic philology is Adhvara. Dhvara means an act with himsa or violence. And therefore a-dhvara means an act involving no himsa or no violence. There are a large number of such usage of Adhvara in the Vedas. In the post-Mahabharata period, misinterpretation of the Vedas and interpolations in other scriptures took place at various points in time. Acharya Shankar re-established the Vedic values to an extent.

In the more recent times, Swami Dayanand Saraswati interpreted the Vedas as per the correct rules of the language and authentic evidences. His literature, which includes commentary on the Vedas, Satyarth Prakash loosely translated as Light of Truth, An Introduction to the Vedas and other texts led to widespread social reformation based on Vedic philosophy and dispelling of myths surrounding the Vedas.

Let us discover what the Vedas have to say on Yajna. Agne yam yagnamadhvaram vishwatah pari bhuurasi
Sa id deveshu gacchati
Rigveda 1.1.4

O lord of effulgence! The non-violent Yajna, you prescribe from all sides, is beneficial for all, touches divine proportions and is accepted by noble souls.The Rigveda describes Yajna as Adhvara or nonviolent throughout. Same is the case with all the other Vedas. How can it be then concluded that the Vedas permit violence or slaughter of animals?
The biggest accusation of cattle and cow slaughter comes in the context of the Yajnas that derived their names from different cattle like the Ashwamedh Yajna, the Gomedha Yajna and the Nar-medh Yajna. Even by the wildest stretch of the imagination the word Medha would not mean slaughter in this context.It's interesting to note what Yajurveda says about a horse

Imam ma himsirekashafam pashum kanikradam vaajinam vaajineshu
Yajurveda 13.48

Do not slaughter this one hoofed animal that neighs and who goes with a speed faster than most of the animals. Swamedha does not mean horse sacrifice at Yajna. Instead the Yajurveda clearly mentions that a horse ought not to be slaughtered.

In Shathapatha, Ashwa is a word for the nation or empire. The word medha does not mean slaughter. It denotes an act done in accordance to the intellect Alternatively it means consolidation, as evident from the root meaning of medha i.e. medhru san-ga-me

Raashtram vaa ashwamedhah
Annam hi gau
Agnirvaa ashwah
Aajyam medhah
(Shatpath 13.1.6.3)

Swami Dayananda Saraswati wrote in his Light of Truth:
A Yajna dedicated to the glory, wellbeing and prosperity of the Rashtra the nation or empire is known as the Ashwamedh yajna.“To keep the food pure or to keep the senses under control, or to make the food pure or to make a good use of the rays of Sun or keep the earth free from impurities[clean] is called Gomedha Yajna”.

“The word Gau also means the Earth and the yajna dedicated to keep the Earth the environment clean is called Gomedha Yajna”“The cremation of the body of a dead person in accordance with the principles laid down in the Vedas is called Naramedha Yajna”.

No beef in Vedas

Not only the Vedas are against animal slaughter but also vehemently oppose and prohibit cow slaughter. Yajurveda forbids killing of cows, for they provide energizing food for human beings.

Ghrtam duhaanaamaditim janaayaagne maa himsiheeh
Yajurveda 13.49
Do not kill cows and bulls who always deserve to be protected.

Aare gohaa nrhaa vadho vo astu
Rigveda 7.56.17

In Rigveda cow slaughter has been declared a heinous crime equivalent to human murder and it has been said that those who commits this crime should be punished.

Sooyavasaad bhagavatee hi bhooyaa atho vayam bhagvantah syaama
Addhi trnamaghnye vishwadaaneem piba shuddhamudakamaacharantee
Rigveda 1.164.40 or Atharv 7.73.11 or Atharv 9.10.20

The Aghnya cows – which are not to be killed under any circumstances– may keep themselves healthy by use of pure water and green grass, so that we may be endowed with virtues, knowledge and wealth. The Vedic Lexicon, Nighantu, gives amongst other synonyms of Gau[ or cow] the words Aghnya. Ahi, and Aditi. Yaska the commentator on Nighantu, defines these as-

Aghnya the one that ought not to be killed
Ahi the one that must not be slaughtered.
Aditi the one that ought not to be cut into pieces.
These three names of cow signify that the animal ought not to be put to tortures. These words appear frequently throughout the Vedas in context of the cow.

Cow – The aghnya – brings us health and prosperity

Suprapaanam Bhavatvaghnyaayaah
Rigveda 5.83.8

There should be excellent facility for pure water for Aghnya Cow

Yah paurusheyena kravishaa samankte yo ashwena pashunaa yaatudhaanah
Yo aghnyaayaa bharati ksheeramagne teshaam sheershaani harasaapi vrishcha
Rigveda 10.87.16

Those who feed on human, horse or animal flesh and those who destroy milk-giving Aghnya cows should be severely punished.

Yajurveda 12.73

The Aghnya cows and bulls bring you prosperity

Maa gaamanaagaamaditim vadhishta
Rigveda 8.101.15

Do not kill the cow. Cow is innocent and aditi – that ought not to be cut into pieces

Destroy those who kill cows

Yadi no gaam hansi yadyashwam yadi poorusham
Tam tvaa seesena vidhyaamo yatha no so aveeraha
Atharvaveda 1.16.4

If someone destroys our cows, horses or people, kill him with a bullet of lead.

Love each other as the Aghnya – non-killable cow – loves its calf

Cow is fountain head of all bounties

The entire 28th Sukta or Hymn of 6th Mandal of Rigveda sings the glory of cow.
Aa gaavo agnamannuta bhadramakrantseedantu
Bhooyobhooyo rayimidasya vardhayannabhinne
Na taa nashanti na dabhaati taskaro naasaamamitro vyathiraa dadharshati
Na taa arvaa renukakaato ashnute na samskritramupa yanti taa abhi
Gaavo bhago gaava indro me achhaan
Yooyam gaavo medayathaa
Maa vah stena eeshata maaghanshasah

1. Everyone should ensure that cows are free from miseries and kept healthy.
2. God blesses those who take care of cows.
3. Even the enemies should not use any weapon on cows
4. No one should slaughter the cow
5. Cow brings prosperity and strength
6. If cows keep healthy and happy, men and women shall also keep disease free and prosperous
7. May the cow eat green grass and pure water. May they not be killed and bring prosperity to us.

Of course for one who likes to eat meat they will come up with anything just to prove themselves right.
